Founded in August 2023, AODInitiative began with a simple belief: that in Benin City, the transition between childhood and adulthood is a critical window. For young people aged 12 to 18, having a supportive community, a safe outlet for their energy, and access to basic health resources can completely alter the trajectory of their lives.

Looking around Oredo, we saw immense potential, talent, and drive in our youth — but a lack of structured spaces to nurture it. We also saw families struggling to access basic, preventive healthcare. We knew we had to step in and create solutions that actually last.

We launched AODInitiative to bridge that gap. Through the universal language of sport (like the Aspire Cup) and free medical outreach — with health education and youth clubs on the way — we give young people a place to belong while caring for the wider community around them.

Real community transformation doesn't happen overnight, and it doesn't happen by spreading resources too thin.

At AODInitiative, we deliberately focus our work on one Local Government Area at a time, starting in Oredo LGA. By concentrating our sports tournaments, youth clubs, and medical outreach in a specific area, our impact runs deep before it runs wide. This targeted approach ensures measurable, lasting change before we scale to neighbouring communities.
